Sultan Al Farsi سلطان الفارسي
Sultan is Noor Majan’s Principal. He holds a Masters in Arabic and German as a foreign language from the University of Leipzig; this has given him a solid theoretical basis in contemporary didactics of foreign languages and initially exposed him to international language teaching. He is also currently pursuing a PhD in Teaching and Testing AFL in Leipzig, Germany.
Sultan has extensive managerial experience in Arabic language development, he has held directorial positions at internationally recognised institutes such as the World Learning Oman Center in Muscat; where he developed and implemented Arabic language programs. He was responsible for the SIT Study Abroad program, the Critical Language Scholarship Arabic program in Oman (CLS) and the Diwan-funded Salaam program to name a few; as well as developing many customized courses for various other organizations.
Samira Selle - سميرة سلا
Student Affairs & Marketing Director
Samira is our Student affairs and Marketing Director; she holds a Masters in Middle Eastern Studies, Political Science and French Civilization. She is also researching for her PhD in Germany in the field of Middle Eastern and Women Studies. She has worked as the Academic Director of the Study Abroad programme at the World Learning Oman Center as well as administration, marketing and programme development. Samira is a German citizen with Yemeni origins, she has made Oman her home and is well versed in the Omani language and culture. She speaks several languages including Arabic, English, French and German; alongside her international background and experience in working with international students she is well equipped to mediate between students from abroad and the sometimes enigmatic Omani ways of life.
Hussein Al Farsi حسين الفارسي
Hussein is Noor Majan Training Institute’s Director of Arabic Programs; he holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Arabic and is currently pursuing his PhD on the implementation and usage of classical Arabic poetry in the AFL classroom. He has been with the Omani Ministry of Education for over ten years, first as an Arabic teacher and then as an inspector of all Arabic teachers in the district; he is now a consultant for the Government on their Arabic faculties.
He has taught Arabic courses to the highest International levels and worked with programs such as Critical Language Scholarship "CLS", USA and Salam program in Muscat, Nizwa and Salalah. His experiences in teaching Arabic to both International and Omani students and expertise in Arabic grammar, rhetoric and classic poetry naturally influenced him to bring the idea of high quality Arabic teaching to his home region of Ibri; where he felt he could combine his teaching methodology and philosophy with an authentic Arabic environment conducive to Arabic practice on a daily basis.
Dr. Saif Al-Azri سيف العزري
Saif is one of our most dedicated and talented teachers. With a PhD in the techniques of teaching the Arabic language he uses modern teaching techniques and authentic source materials to make students attain their highest Arabic level. His classes are challenging while supportive and let you develop all language skills. Saif is also always ready to discuss any actual topic that ignites your interest – in Arabic of course!
Ibtisam Al-Maqbali ابتسام المقبالي
Ibtisam made her passion for the Arabic language her vocation and started teaching with us in 2013. Besides making sure that Arabic lessons never get boring and that the media resources treated are always up to date she also is a funny teacher that can draw on her talent and creativity to make students excel and enjoy learning Arabic with her.
Latifa ٌRashid لطيفة راشد
Latifa is, just as her name suggests, a very kind teacher who engages her students inside and outside her class, giving them ample opportunity to speak. After her graduation as an Arabic teacher with special didactic qualification she was looking for an unusual challenge and is since then enriching our faculty as a spirited and dynamic teacher who cares about each and every student.
Yusuf Al-Jasasi يوسف الجساسي
Yousuf is a dedicated teacher with almost 30 years experience in foreign language teaching. He holds a Masters degree in TESOL and is sought after by the Omani Ministry of Education for his ability to design and implement foreign language courses for different groups regardless of age and prior qualification to cater to their specific needs. He’s also a great team player and advises and assists other colleagues. After having hosted several of NMTI’s international students as a host family he decided to use his skills in ASL teaching not only at home; but to have a larger audience of students benefit from his passion to teach.
Rahma Al-Alawi رحمة العلوي
Rahma has joined our faculty as a teaching assistant in 2014. She teaches private courses for students with specific requirements such as university preparation courses, dialect or conversation as needed. She is a very empathetic person who can quickly gauge her students’ interests, needs and levels. From there on she creates an engaging and interactive curriculum to take her students exactly where they needed to be.
Omar Masoud عمر مسعود
Omar is our Public Relations Officer. He is responsible for the institute’s smooth running. He is often found liaising between NMTI and governmental bodies and private institutions. Great for conversation practice between the dormitory and the institute. Always ready to point out and explain traits of Omani culture
Badriyah Saeed بدرية سعيد
Badriyah is our administration assistant. After her studies in Qatar she returned to Oman and is now responsible for the smooth running of all our English and Arabic courses. She is the go-to-person for all our students and staff and those Ibrians wanting to study English at our institute. She is also an invaluable key to Omani culture and the town of Ibri. Whatever you are looking for Badriyah usually knows where to find it. And you will find her most helpful in practicing your newly gained knowledge of Omani dialect.
